How we approach Boston-Edison projects.
These foundations are massive, and the basements often include original features like fruit cellars, boiler rooms, and servant work areas that reorganize beautifully into media rooms, wine storage, and guest quarters. The scale gives us more layout freedom than almost anywhere else in Metro Detroit.
The engineering care goes into what these old systems left behind: steam pipe routing, aged drain tile, and masonry that wants repointing before it gets covered. We resolve all of it before finishes go in, with permits pulled through the city.
We also respect what these basements were. Original details like brick piers, arched doorways, and heavy timber shelving can often be cleaned up and featured instead of hidden, giving the finished space a character a drywall box never has. It is the same preservation instinct we bring to the floors above.
