How we approach Boston-Edison projects.
These early-1900s homes have generous bathrooms by the standards of their era, often with original tile, cast iron tubs, and plaster walls. The trick is modernizing the plumbing, waterproofing, and ventilation without making the room feel like it was airlifted in from a subdivision.
We source tile and fixtures that suit the period, rework supply and drain lines that have served since the Model T era, and where exterior changes are involved, we work within the historic district review process. The result is a bathroom that belongs in the house.
Working in a historic home also means protecting it while we work. Floors get covered from the front door to the bathroom, original trim comes off carefully and goes back on, and dust containment goes up before demolition starts. A remodel here should leave no trace of itself outside the room it improved.
