How we approach Detroit projects.
Oak and maple laid a century ago is usually still there in Detroit's colonials and bungalows, buried under the layers the decades added. We assess board thickness and repair scope honestly, weave in salvaged boards where rooms were altered, and sand and finish to a standard that makes the original floor the best feature of the house.
Tile work here concentrates in kitchens, baths, and entries, where a hundred winters of boots have beaten the old surfaces. We set porcelain and mosaic over properly prepared substrates with uncoupling membranes, because a Michigan freeze-thaw house moves, and tile has to be installed for it.
Flooring rarely travels alone: it lands inside kitchen, bath, and whole-house projects. Because our crews handle those scopes too, the floor goes in at the right stage of the job rather than as an afterthought squeezed in around finished cabinets.
