How we approach Grosse Pointe projects.
Full projects here balance restoration and renovation room by room: slate, plaster, paneling, and leaded glass conserved and repaired, while kitchens, baths, and systems are rebuilt completely. The judgment about which is which is the real skill, and it is where we spend our planning time.
These houses also carry decades of layered mechanical history, from steam heat to window units to partial retrofits. We rationalize all of it into modern HVAC, wiring, and plumbing designed around the house rather than punched through it.
Craftsmen matter most on houses like these, and ours have the patience the work demands: plaster repaired in place, hardwood woven into original floors, and paint and stain finishes built up the slow way. The house sets the pace of the finish work, and we let it.
